We are very excited to host our first plant sale this September!
Every winter, we sow seeds in our nursery to test all species we sell and ensure the seeds’ viability and the effectiveness of our recommended sowing methods. The resulting seedlings usually become stock plants for future seed collection. This year, we have a surplus, as well as new and tough-to-find species, such as poke milkweed and fireweed, that we’re excited to share with you.
September is a great time to plant, because the weather is cooler and plants don’t need as much water as they do in spring and summer, so we hope you’ll enjoy this extra opportunity to plant beautiful seed-grown natives in your gardens while supporting Wild Seed Project.
Due to COVID-19 precautions, we’ll be taking orders online before in-person pick-up at selected dates and times. Beginning September 12, look for the plant sale on our website. When you place your order and choose your preferred pick-up day and time slot, you’ll receive directions to our pick-up location and all other necessary instructions.
We’re grateful to Gregg Raymond and Jamien Jacobs, highly experienced seed volunteers who have graciously turned their South Portland yard into a seedling nursery.
