Winter Seed Sowing - November

  • Native Seed Center at Turkey Hill Farm 120 Old Ocean House Road Cape Elizabeth, ME, 04107 United States (map)

Join us at our Native Seed Center at Turkey Hill Farm for seed saving and sowing! We will guide a hands-on exploration of the many steps of growing native plants from seed, and establishing diverse landscapes using seed-grown plants. We will also learn about the diverse plants that grow here in Maine and their unique seed collection and seed sowing processes.

Participants will get to practice winter seed sowing themselves, and take home a pots of sown seeds to grow on in their own garden.

Notes on access: This workshop will be held at the Turkey Hill Farm barn. This space has a woodstove, but is not insulated, so dress warmly in layers. Access to the barn requires use of a gravel path and uneven terrain. Entry to the barn is via a door with one step up, or via double doors with a small ramp (less than 6"). There are bathrooms and running water on site. One of the bathrooms is built to be ADA accessible. Please let us know if there are ways we can help get you to the event!

Can’t make it to the workshop? Consider signing up as a volunteer! Volunteers at the Native Seed Center help with seed sowing and other plant care tasks throughout the growing cycle. Thank you, volunteers!
