Volunteer

Please review each opportunity listed below, including details of tasks and time commitment before completing the volunteer application. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, or be accompanied by an adult.

Seed Cleaning & Packing

Do you have an eye for detail and a passion for native seeds? Within our seed program, we are looking for volunteers to clean and sort seeds, and support our order fulfillment by packaging and assembling seed orders. Although much of our seed work is seasonal, our shop is open year-round and we always need extra hands to package seeds for online orders.

Time commitment: 2 hours/week
Location: North Yarmouth office

Outreach Events

Outreach events are a great way for Wild Seed Project to engage and share resources with our community. Event volunteers help out with running seed ball activities for groups of all ages, facilitating retail sales, and engaging with event attendees as native plant enthusiasts. Most outreach events occur on weekends, and we have multiple volunteers working morning or afternoon shifts.

Time Commitment: 3 - 4 hour shifts
Location: Varies based on event (usually in Maine)

General Office Assistance

As we continue to grow, we occasionally need extra hands to assist with general office work. This can include general office tasks, office space/supply organization, digitization of files, systems design, data entry, etc.

Time Commitment: Varies by task
Location: Varies; remote work possible

Plant Care and Planting Projects

Planting projects are a major volunteer opportunity to do hands-on, physical work. We request volunteers as needed to help with installing native plants for Community Seed Gardens throughout the state, as well as watering, potting, weeding and other outdoor work at our Native Seed Center in Cape Elizabeth.

Time Commitment: Varies by task; 2 - 3 hours for plantings
Location: Varies
