Come walk the native plant gardens at Ft. Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth as we get to know the character of this place in autumn. Fall is time to collect seeds - join us for a hands on demo to help harvest! Friends of Ft. Williams has generously offered to send participants home with some collected seeds, too.
This is the third of four walks, spaced throughout the year in each unique season, where we will all engage in observing and asking questions of our surroundings, and identifying the varied plants, shrubs, trees, ferns, and wildlife along the trail. Each season brings something new and spectacular to look at. The goal of these walks is to foster relationships with place through relationships with plants, and encourage further stewardship of our community spaces. We’ll focus on the Children’s Garden at Ft. Williams, a beautiful example of cultivated landscaping that centers native plant species. Time permitting, we will also explore part of the Cliff Walk Loop. The Ft. Williams series is co-hosted by David Iovino, lead gardener at Friends of Ft. Williams and Caitlin Marshall, Community Education Coordinator at Wild Seed Project.

Notes on access: The walk will cover 1/4 to 1/2 mile at a leisurely pace, on a mix of crushed gravel and paved paths, mostly flat.
